How to Make Reach Your #1 Tool at Every Stage of Your Campaign

Optimizing Reach Throughout Your Campaign

We know that the earlier a campaign starts using Reach, the more time they have to grow their network of users, the more successful they will be with it. Reach is built to help you succeed during every phase of your campaign – from introducing yourself to the electorate to getting your voters to the polls so that your campaign can scale up over time.

Reach at Every Phase

INTRODUCTORY PHASE

Announcing your candidacy is all about the buzz. And it’s also about building an early team of engaged core supporters and giving them easy actions they can take right away in support of your campaign. At this early phase, most campaigns aren’t set up to capture that early volunteer enthusiasm. That’s where Reach comes in!

Reach’s Digital Campaign Headquarters, Relational Organizing, Chat, and Content Library features can help you plug in volunteers right away to share your message to their networks and start to build community with other key supporters. You can keep folks engaged with Action Cards and Contact Scripts to give them actions they can take like recruiting more volunteers and making grassroots fundraising asks. And with Reach’s Community Canvassing and Survey Questions, you can start capturing early data on what issues matter to your electorate.

PRO TIP

Set up User Groups – like Campus Organizers or Spanish Speakers – and Campaign Keys that automatically add people to a group. That way you can target Action Cards to specific User Groups, enable them to have their own chat channel, and create a strong sense of community among your volunteers.

BALLOT ACCESS PHASE

Whether you get your name on the ballot through petitioning, caucusing or endorsement, Reach can help you succeed.

If you are gathering signatures, Reach’s Community Canvassing feature lets your volunteers instantly know whether a voter is eligible to sign your petition, and then stay in touch with them throughout the campaign to convert your petition signers into donors, volunteers and Primary voters.

If you are caucusing, your caucus supporters can gather important data on potential caucus goers with the Community Canvassing feature, and organize their friends on your behalf using Reach’s Relational Organizing feature to build momentum. Reach Chat can make sure that supporters can stay in touch with the campaign during the caucus.

If you are going into an endorsement vote, you can use Reach to help your volunteers engage and track your supporters with Relational Organizing.

And along the way, if your volunteers meet folks who are unregistered, they can help get them registered with Reach’s Voter Registration, and then stay in touch with them through the election.

PRO TIPS

Use Smart Tags and Action Card Targeting to help your volunteers focus on communicating with the folks in their network who are eligible to sign your petition or caucus for you.

If you are petitioning, make the most of it by also having your volunteers ask petition signers Survey Questions so you can begin to gather important data about your electorate.

PRIMARY PERSUASION PHASE:

If you are in a Primary, you need to persuade voters to vote for you, donate, volunteer and turn out. Reach makes it easier! Use Relational Organizing and Action Cards to empower your core supporters to recruit volunteers and donors. And with Action Cards and Contact Scripts, you can make sure your volunteers have the answers they need to policy questions when they are out at events using Reach’s Community Canvassing feature to survey voters, or contacting the people they know through Relational Organizing. Our Content Library feature makes it easy for your supporters to share your message to their networks and break through the noise.

PRO TIP

It takes more than one touch point to persuade and mobilize a voter. Reach is designed to help your volunteers keep communicating with your voters. Use Network Contact Action Cards to make sure your team is engaging with voters consistently.

PRIMARY MOBILIZATION PHASE:

Smart Tags make it easy for your volunteers to identify potential primary voters during Community Canvassing and among their networks, engage and mobilize them.

PRO TIP

Create a Commit to Vote Network Contact Action Card and have your volunteers ask their networks to commit to vote in the Primary.

PRIMARY GOTV PHASE:

Relational Organizing can help drive your voters to the polls with messages from trusted friends with information about your candidacy and the importance of voting in the primary.

PRO TIP

Create a Network Contact Action Card and a Contact Script with links to find polling locations and voting hours.

GENERAL ELECTION PERSUASION PHASE:

Use Community Canvassing to send your supporters to events in their communities to talk to voters and gather valuable data using Survey Questions. Relational Organizing, Action Cards and Contact Scripts will empower your core supporters to persuade their networks to support your campaign and answer common policy questions. And with Survey Questions, you can make sure you know who is supporting you and what issues matter most to voters you still need to persuade. Plus, our Content Library feature makes it easy to amplify your message on social media and get feedback about your content strategy.

PRO TIP

Create Contact Scripts with responses to commonly asked policy questions, donation links, and information on requesting an absentee ballot.

GENERAL ELECTION MOBILIZATION PHASE:

With Smart Tags that are automatically applied based on criteria you set, your volunteers can identify potential supporters, engage and mobilize them to volunteer, donate, and vote. Content Sharing through Action Cards and Content Library will keep your campaign in front of voters.

PRO TIP

People are more likely to volunteer or donate when a trusted friend makes the ask. Empower your volunteers with compelling Contact Scripts.

GENERAL ELECTION GOTV PHASE:

Reach’s Relational Organizing can help drive your voters to the polls with messages from trusted friends with information about voting.

PRO TIP

Create a Vote Tripling Network Contact Action Card that encourages people to contact three friends and ask them to vote.
