1.8.1

Released July 2, 2019

This may technically only be a “.1” update, but it actually contains some pretty sweet stuff! The process of adding new users to your campaign is now much more flexible and powerful. Read on to find out more!

For Users

New
  • More ways to add users – Adding new users to your Reach campaign used to be a fairly blunt instrument and now it has a lot more finesse. Every time you add someone, you can decide whether or not Reach should send them a text notification, and you can decide which level or permissions they should get on the campaign, up to and including your own permissions level.
  • You can also use this to upgrade someone’s permissions in the field by just re-adding them with the new permissions.
  • Plus, both the text message that new users get and the confirmation notification that you get are now smarter and more aware of what’s going on.
Improved
  • Better Toast Notifications – Now, when you get little pop-up notifications based on your actions in the app, they’re a little less intrusive and you’ll be able to keep working while they’re on your screen.
  • User Profile Editing – We’ve made it easier and cleared to edit your user profile from the settings menu.
  • Redesigned signup and login experience – We just keep smoothing out the login flow. Now, the buttons show you a cute little animation while they’re working on something for you, the inputs behave more consistently, you can paste auth codes into the auth code screen, and we’ve added field labels to the account creation screen so you can keep track of what we’re asking you.
Fixed
  • Fixed a bunch of small bugs that affected the transition animations, the look and loading functionality of the rankings screen, Google auto-complete for addresses of new people, a rare crash of the person profile screen, and more.

1.8.0

Released June 21, 2019

Get pumped up, Reachers, because this is a major update that includes one of our most requested features: adding people! Have you ever been canvassing when you meet someone who you can’t find in Reach? Maybe they’re not a registered voter, but you still want to capture their contact information and survey responses, and indicate how they relate to your campaign, right? Well now you can. Read on for more information about this and a bunch of other new features.

For Users

New
  • Add People – Notice something new about the search results screen? If the person you’re looking for in Reach doesn’t already exist in your search results, you can add them using the new ‘+’ button. You’ll arrive at a new “Add Someone New” screen where you can enter all the information you have about a new person including auto-completed smart address fields, and record their responses to all your campaign’s survey questions.
  • Tag People – Not only can you add people, but you can also tag them! Your campaign will configure tags that you can apply to any person who already exists in the data set plus anyone you add. This is a great way to mark people who need to register to vote, people who want to volunteer, or anything else that will help with your campaign.
Improved
  • Redesigned signup and login experience – Last month, we made signup and login better. This month, we made it even better-er! Auth codes are easier to enter, the Terms of Use are right there in black and white, and the buttons have a fresh coat of paint.
  • Design Improvements – Re-vamped look for pop-op dialog boxes throughout the app.
Fixed
  • Fixed a bunch of small bugs that affected the links on settings tab, the buttons under the primary question, the column headers on the rankings screen, and more.

For Admins

New
  • People Export – You’ll now find a new export format in Reach called “People”. Which will give you a CSV with all the people you have reached, including their key details, contact information, tags, and all their survey responses. You can generate this export for imported people, added people, or both!

1.7.3

Released April 22, 2019

Small bug fixes and improvements.

For Users

Improved
  • New look, same great Reach – Beautiful new app icon and slash screen features our cute little mascot, “Ballie to Ballot”. Ballie is a kind soul. Ballie uses they/them pronouns.
  • Offline connection handling – Reach without internet access is like Paul Ryan without corporate tax cuts. Now, if you try to use Reach without an internet connection, the app will let you know so you can adjust accordingly.
  • Streamlined notifications – No more humblebrags from Reach when the app successfully does something it was supposed to do. It will just work without showing a notification on your screen. No fuss. Nobody likes a braggart.
Fixed
  • Squashed some of minor bugs and made the app look even prettier, if you can believe it.

For Admins

New
  • Admin Survey Questions – This won’t affect users of the app, but from the Admin Dashboard, campaign administrators now have complete control over customizing the various survey questions and sets of survey questions that will be presented to their canvassers. If you’re not an admin, you should feel jealous – it’s very slick.

1.7.0

Released March 14, 2019

So many questions to ask! You want to learn more about the people you’re reaching, so we’ve got your back. For those campaigns where just marking supporters with a 1-5 is not enough, we now support custom questions on the person profile screen! We have also now added more options for you in other areas as well. Reach now gives you more ways more ways to add new users and more ways to view a person’s profile. Ready to spread your wings?

For Users

New
  • Custom Questions support – your campaign admins can now work with us to configure as many questions as they want which will now fill your person profile screen with all sorts of new questions to ask. These include more numerical scale questions with various customizable number ranges and color schemes, multiple choice questions, single choice questions, yes/no questions, and short or long open-ended text input questions. Once your campaign admins set these questions up with us, you’ll see them appear for every person you Reach.
  • Contact Actions – once you’ve added a phone number or email address for the person you’ve reached, you’ll now see some handy dandy buttons there which will let you email them, text them, or add them as a Reach user.
  • Add User button on main search screen. We know that adding new users to Reach is key to spreading the app far and wide so we’ve made it way easier. You no longer have to tap through to the Campaign Manager screen to add new users – you can do it right from the search screen using a new button in the top right corner.
  • Each section on the person profile screen is now collapsible and expandable. Hide the sections you don’t care about and show the ones you do. The app will remember your preferences.
Improved
  • We added a loading indicator to our various screens in the Settings Menu so you won’t be left staring at a blank screen and wondering what is going on.
  • All pop-up toast notifications now include a close button so you can dismiss them right away if they’re in your way.
  • You can now pull-to-refresh your screen on the Campaign Manager, My History, and Rankings screens.
